A few Javacopter "Dronies" (like a selfie, but with a UAV drone) in Grasslands National Park.

Topics:   Java Blog

A "dronie" is a "selfie" taken with a camera mounted on a drone. A drone is also known as a UAV - unmanned aerial vehicle - or a UAS - unmanned aerial system. But, strangely enough, the phrase "UASie" has never caught on in modern slang. Hard to believe, I know. Anyway, here are three "dronies" our Java Post Aerial Photography crew accidentally captured…

It's Joan's Birthday! Yay!

Topics:   Java Blog

We're putting on the party hats (well, figuratively and PhotoShop speaking) and eating hot dogs and cheese doodles (literally) because today is the birthday of our Managing Producer, Joan Speirs! Yay! Joan won't tell us her age but she does remember back when hot dogs were filled with actual identifiable meat.  Seated clockwise around the Java Post boardroom table starting in the…

The special visual effects work for Corner Gas: The Movie has been proceeding at Java Post for several weeks now and it's been fun to walk by the offices of our animators Kevin (pictured right) and Tomás (pictured left) to get a sneak peek at some of the hush-hush visuals that will be revealed on the big screen in a couple of months. I mean, when we saw the shot of Brent with…

Sixty-two cement trucks were called in from Regina and Moose Jaw, as 480 cubic meters…

Working with the creative gang at Phoenix Group, Java Post Production has been busy shooting scenes for the upcoming Spring 2015 ad campaign for Tourism Saskatchewan. Soothing Slo-Motion, Saskatchewan Style.

Last Saturday, Java Post Production boss, Jack and his girlfriend Kim went out towards the Condie area, northwest of Regina, to do some hobby photography.  Jack took along our DJI Ronin camera stabilization system to give it a bit of a test and also to do some slo-motion practice with our Panasonic Lumix GH4 camera. It was a cold, windy miserable day but, shooting at 96 frames per second, the…

The STC buses roll on down the highway in another Java Post Production.

This is the summer/fall version of the television commercial we produced in the early spring of 2014 for the Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC). We returned to the same location we had used in the spring and recreated the shots we took in the first commercial. Obviously, the biggest difference was the weather and the terrain - going from minus 26 degrees Celsius with snow everywhere to warm…
