It's More Than Desert

It's true -- some people enjoy winters that don't involve endless snow, ice and air that hurts your face.

Cue the Christmas break road trip!

This year, Jack thought he would drive down to visit his longtime friend Brent Kowalchuk who has been enjoying winters in Arizona. The prospect of such a beautiful scenic drive was enough to make Jack decide to "pack" one of Java Post's UAVs for the trip.

The video above is a short edit of footage captured around Tucson, AZ. Since this aerial footage was purely for fun and non-commercial use, Jack did not require any permits to fly.

Ever the diligent by-the-book certified UAV pilot, Jack did however check-in with officials from the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) in each state he was driving through to ensure all no-fly zone regulations and other protocols were being met. Jack said they were really happy to hear from him and know that a UAV pilot wanted to do this responsibly. The best holidays usually involve legal discussions with large government agencies.

The sun setting on Tucson. Alas, all holidays must come to an end.
