Due to the kind of scheduling challenge that all parents face from time to time, the Java Post staff temporarily increased yesterday as Randy Shumay's son Cohen joined us for the afternoon.

To paraphrase what Randy said on his Facebook page: "Unexpected take-your-kid-to-work day. Productivity is through the roof."

Cohen (he's the good-looking one on the left) and Randy buckle down to work in the Java Post boardroom. Judging from what Cohen was holding in his hand, yesterday's edit session at some point involved PEZ candy.

Of course, Cohen knows that the secret to a productive work day is efficient multitasking. So, you work on your project for a little bit...

...and then you stop and watch Elf for a while. Balance is key.
