Java Post Production has some special guests in the shop this week. Director Mauro Borrelli and DOP (director of photography) Mark Dobrecu, CSC, are in working with Java Post's Jack Tunnicliffe on the colour grading for the sci-fi thriller movie The Recall, starring Wesley Snipes and R.J. Mitte.
The Minds Eye Entertainment sci-fi thriller follows a group of five friends vacationing at a cabin while aliens attack Earth. The Recall was shot for the new Barco Escape, three-screen, panoramic theatrical format, which fully surrounds audiences and offers the ultimate immersive cinema experience. Portions of the film were also shot in Virtual Reality.
Producers on The Recall include Kevin Dewallt and Danielle Masters from Minds Eye Entertainment. Guy Griffithe from Bridgegate Pictures Corp., Frank White, and VMI Worldwide president Andre Relis served as Executive Producers.

As well as being a Los Angeles-based film director, Mauro is also a premier visual designer, whose credits include work on the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Mark - a local boy from White City, Saskatchewan - is one of the world's most experienced DOPs in the 3-camera Barco Escape panoramic format.
Jack at Java Post's DaVinci Resolve colour grading controls. As mentioned earlier, The Recall was shot in the new Barco Escape, three-screen, panoramic theatrical format, which fully surrounds audiences. That is why Jack's monitor array at Java Post Production includes a wide trio of screens above his main computer displays. For this particular scene featuring Wesley Snipes, Jack is working on the centre portion of the shot.
