Our Java Post Aerial Photography crew had our Freefly ALTA UAV out for a little spin this morning. The weather was so pleasant, it seemed a shame to waste the opportunity.

So, our UAV pilot Jack Tunnicliffe and our UAV technician/camera operator Trevor Bennett, headed to our usual test flight facility outside Regina in order to put some flight hours on the unit.

Parked on a deserted rural road with the ALTA UAV set to go on our high-tech launch/landing mat, Trevor dials in some preflight settings via his iPhone. Or maybe he's texting out the latest Dilbert cartoon. It's hard to tell with Trevor. Mounted on the tripod behind Trevor is the wireless receiver unit, bristling with antennas.

While Trevor continues his preflight prep in the background, Jack (left) uses the opportunity to take a selfie, which he has cleverly entitled "Jack waiting for Trevor to finish his preflight prep."
