Java Post shoot for Tourism Saskatchewan heads north to Twin Falls Lodge

After helping Phoenix Group to create the successful 2015 television and web advertising campaign for Tourism Saskatchewan, Java Post Production and co-directors/co-photographers Greg Huszar and Derek Frankowski were invited back to help create the 2016 advertising campaign.

Shooting this summer, the commercials will debut next year - just as the commercials that are currently appearing were shot back in 2014.

While the current campaign focuses on the prairie beauty of southern Saskatchewan, the commercials slated to debut in in 2016 will focus on the forests and lakes of central and northern Saskatchewan.

And that can only mean one thing...road trip!  (Behind-the-scenes photos courtesy of "Java Jack" Tunnicliffe.)

The first step involved a 600-kilometre drive from Regina to La Ronge. As anyone who has made that trip can attest, the common myth about Saskatchewan being nothing but flat fields of wheat soon dissolves as the forests of northern Saskatchewan begin to appear.

The next step of the journey was to park the car and get on the plane because, where our crew was going, there are no roads.

The flight from La Ronge up to the lodge is approximately 80 kilometres as the crow flies. Unfortunately, the crow refused to carry all our people and equipment, so the crew took the float plane, instead.

And here we are: Twin Falls Lodge, a fly-in fishing lodge scenically located between the breathtaking Robertson Falls and Twin Falls waterfalls on the Churchill River, northeast of La Ronge, Saskatchewan.

Clients, agency personnel, actors, and Java Post crew members enjoy a delicious meal inside Twin Falls Lodge. There's a saying that the fresh outdoor air gives people an bigger appetite. If that's true, I hope the lodge has stocked up, because we know how some of these crew guys eat down south. If their appetites are enhanced by the fresh northern air - and the fridge isn't fully stocked - things could get ugly fast.

The beautiful sunset view from the lodge's deck looks like a very inviting place to spend a few aprés-dinner hours.

Our Java Post Aerial Photography camera operator, Trevor Bennett, takes advantage of the beautiful evening to enjoy a relaxing cigar (and what we will assume is apple juice) on the deck. Trevor can relax for now, but he's going to be busy the next few days.

And, as the sun slowly sets over Twin Falls Lodge, we bid adieu to our crew and clients from Java Post Production, Phoenix Group, and Tourism Saskatchewan. They've all got an early morning ahead of them, with many sights to see, and many scenes to shoot.
