What's New At Java

Java Post Production's Marathon Man does it again at the GMS Queen City Marathon.

On September 8th, the 19th Annual GMS Queen City Marathon was held in Regina, Saskatchewan, and Java Post Production's own Randy Shumay took part in the 42.2K full marathon event. This would be Randy's fifth marathon run.

Early in the race, Randy looks fresh and determined as he runs across the Albert Street Bridge. We'll see how long that lasts.

Striding it out around Wascana Lake with the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in the background. We assume the woman running behind Randy is part of his personal security team.

Out on the course, Randy gets a mid-race pep talk from his running coach.

Approaching the finish line. Randy's official time would be 5:33:33.

The race bib (lucky number 244) and 42.2K Marathon Finisher Medal. It don't mean a thing if you don't get that bling.

Flanked by his two boys, Randy shows off the hand-crafted trophy his sons made for him. It's only a rumour that Randy's first response was "What? No prize money?!"

Randy's nephew and sister were volunteer on-course marshals during the race. Events like this need hundreds of volunteers to keep them running. Pun intended.

Randy poses with his well-earned GMS Queen City Marathon finisher medal. Meanwhile, his running coach wonders if there is any money to be made entering his dad in races.

(Hint: there isn't.)
