Java Post and Phoenix Group create ANOTHER new spot for Tourism Saskatchewan: "Churchill River"
Topics: Java Blog
This is the second of two 60-second commercials produced by Java Post Production for the 2016 Tourism Saskatchewan advertising campaign. This commercial showcases canoeing on the Churchill River in Lac La Ronge Provincial Park in northern Saskatchewan, Canada.
Working with co-directors/co-directors of photography Greg Huszar and Derek Frankowski, the Java Post Aerial Photography crew shot this second commercial on the Churchill River in Lac La Ronge Provincial Park.
To get the images for this commercial, we shot on the water, above the water, and even under the water. The commercial features four adventurous canoeists and co-stars beavers, eagles, and pelicans. That must have been one really interesting casting call.
Once all the shooting was done, Java Post Production handled all the editing, colour grading, and final output of the finished commercial.
Our Java crew, Trevor Bennett (in red) and Jack Tunnicliffe (in green) leave the lodge and head out onto the Churchill River to begin a long day of shooting.
Trevor unpacks the road case and gets the gear ready to go. His "office" is looking particularly rugged and scenic today.
These two commercials seemed to have a theme about challenging UAV landings. First it was landing on a narrow boardwalk flanked by trees. Now it's landing on a boat in the middle of a huge lake. This is definitely not the time we want those underwater shots we mentioned earlier.
Once again, it pays to have an experienced, certified UAV pilot at the controls. Jack brings our UAV in for a safe and, most importantly, dry landing back on board the boat. We're pretty sure our local guide thought we were nuts. But we get that a lot.
