We borrowed the silly rhyming scheme from the 1964 Shirley Ellis classic pop song "The Name Game" to title this news post about some "dronies" (AKA selfies taken with a drone) we captured not too long ago when we were out doing a test flight with our new DJI Inspire 1 quadcopter drone. (Click on the "related project" video above to watch the test flight.)

Below you can see the DJI Inspire 1's propellers spinning as it prepares to lift off.

Captured in the photo from the drone camera are (left) Mark Melnychuk of the Regina Leader-Post, who was out doing a story  and video on our company (to read the story and see the video CLICK HERE), and Java Post ground coordinator Doug Russell in his subtle yellow-green coat, who came along to shoot some footage of the test flight for our website.

In our second dronie photo below, you can see not only Mark and Doug, but also Java Post Aerial Photography pilot Jack Tunnicliffe and camera operator Trevor Bennett, standing on the right edge of the frame. Not yet lifting into their full flying position, the landing gear of the DJI Inspire 1 drone can be seen in the top centre of the photo. The black square on the ground is our high-tech UAV drone landing pad...a large floor mat.

The next two photos below show the dronie captured by the drone camera as Doug (left, in yellow-green jacket) and Leader-Post photographer Don Healy take some close-up photos of Jack, Trevor, and the DJI Inspire 1 drone. The last photo is what Don Healy's camera was looking at.
