Our Java Post Production crew spent the day at RCMP Depot Division, the national training centre for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (known locally as just "depot" and pronounced "deh-poe"), located in Saskatchewan's capital city of Regina.
First up was a scene involving one of the RCMP horses. You can have "mounted police" without horses upon which to "mount." This horse was obviously quite used to dealing with the public and didn't seem to mind all the hustle and bustle of our camera crew.
Above is how the horse (and its RCMP rider, of course) appeared in the finished commercial. Click on the Related Project video to see the finished 60-second ad.
The Tourism Saskatchewan and Phoenix Group folks gather on the lawn next to the main parade square at RCMP Dept Division, as the crew prepares to record the RCMP Sunset Ceremony.
There was no need for the Java Post Production crew members to crane their necks to see the elaborate marching and drill maneuvers involved in the RCMP Sunset Ceremony. Not when we brought an actual crane.
Above, you can see our camera mounted on the remote-controlled head. This is the business end of the camera crane.
Our crew begins recording as the RCMP members march in the main parade square.
